Nova Scotia artist Robb Scott
As a child growing up in Truro Nova Scotia, artist Robb Scott would sit for hours creating drawings as a way to entertain himself. His pencil danced with enthusiasm across the page while re-creating popular cartoons, interesting characters and realistic landscapes. His talent was natural and he loved what he did, but never guessed it would become his life's work.
"I always to draw when I was young. It was a fun way to spend my day. However, becoming a professional artist never crossed my mind."
At 35 years of age, Robb Scott is now a successful entrepreneur and among the most talented pencil artists in Nova Scotia. The road traveled to get there has been long ,winding and full of adventures. He walked away from art at the age 13, never knowing it would wait for him until the time was right. After struggling with a decade long drug addiction that began at 20, Robb rediscovered his talents at 26 while applying to architecture school. He was astounding and surprised by his talent and soon realized his lifes work was to become an artist. The application to school never made it.
"I had nothing and was going nowhere. I wanted more out of my life and I finally had enough. I knew I had talent but it was time to prove it to myself and my family."
Robb Scott has garnered attention across North America for his amazingly detailed realistic pencil drawings. His business sense also grabbed the attention of newspaper publishers across Nova Scotia. In 2008, he took on a new role as teacher and lecturer. He began writing art and business columns for multiple Atlantic Canadian newspapers spreading the knowledge he gleaned through a decade of trial and error. CBC Radio 1 called Robb a rising Canadian entrepreneur and featured him twice on their program in 2008. However he would tell you his most impressive work of art is his family.
"My family means everything to me. I get my inspiration to succeed from them. I want to show my children that it's never too late to try."
Already a step parent, Robb became a father in 2008 to his first son Griffin Wylder. He continues to live and work from his hometown province of Nova Scotia. His goal is to create art that challenges and moves people emotionally.
